THE GOLDEN RATIO
The Golden Ratio is an equation used most commonly to determine the dimensional relationship between the width and height of a building. Simply put, it is a mathematical ratio found in numerous places in nature, architecture, and art. Its symbol is oftentimes referred to as phi, after the 21st letter of the Greek alphabet.
At Collier Custom Homes, we believe in the Golden Ratio because it is an essential aspect of our home designs. It is rooted in the fundamental principle of architecture, helping our homes look different on the outside, yet structured so similarly at the core. The Golden Ratio brings balance, height, shape, and beauty to our custom homes. We use this ratio when deciding key features of a home such as the floor plan, the spacing of windows, where doors should be placed, and more.
Some of the most famous historical works of art have been recognized for their Golden Ratio proportions. From the Parthenon in Athens to Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, and even human bodies and faces; these things all follow this harmonious, mathematical ratio. No matter the building or structure’s final purpose, the Golden Ratio is used in architecture for determining proportions. We use the Golden Ratio as our logo and our guiding principle to represent our precision, dedication, and passion for building your dream home.
